Barbara is a 74 year old widow living in Los Angeles. She is a gentle lady with all grandma features imbibed in her. She lived peacefully until her 4 ft tall fence got her into trouble.

As you know the Los Angeles neighborhood looks all the more beautiful because of strict municipal laws that guide you during the building of the house and it's maintenance.
According to the Los Angeles Municipal code sections 12.21 and 12.22, the maximum height limit for your front yard fence or the hedges is 3 1/2 feet above the road surface.

Now little did Barbara know that her fences were 4 ft tall and were breeching the law?

Breeching a law makes you a criminal, if you're thinking how simple yard fences get you into a crime suit? All I would say is never under estimate. One fine day Barbara receives a letter from Rocky Delgadillo, the LA City Attorney which read she will be needed to present herself before the city attorney to decide if she had to pressed criminal charges for the allegations of breaching the municipal code and having taller fences.

Now Barbara felt is was in a stiff situation and felt almost like a felon. She also shared that these fences had been set up by her dead husband back in the year 1987 and didn't want to get rid of them as she loved him dearly and also with increased fence heights she felt secured living alone at her old age from burglars.

This is not just the fence story of Barbara there are many houses in the city of Los Angeles which are looking damn pretty breeching the municipal code. Beware you could be getting a notice from the city attorney very soon as an action against an anonymous report against you. Like said prevention is better than cure, abiding laws has its own benefits. If you're buying or constructing a house make sure you're abiding the municipal code. If you already have a house measure the fences right away.
